2008 was an outstanding year for Dirxion, and before the year closes out, we’d like to take a moment and tell you about some of the great things we’ve been lucky enough to accomplish in what seemed like a blur of a year (can you believe it’s almost 2009?).
Our accomplishments not only help us as a company, but more importantly, they help our customers, so it’s definitely a win-win situation. In no particular order, here are some of the notable things that have happened during 2008:
1. We released a fantastic new version of our catalog, magazine, and book solution, called EdgeClix (read the press release here if you haven’t already). Edgeclix has a lot to offer, including new features, faster access, and an overall better viewing experience for the end user. We’re quite excited about it!
2. Dirxion produced a total of 2,129 titles in 2008, and sticking with our promise, we’ll donate $1 per title each year to the Arbor Day Foundation, for a total of a $2,129 donation! Supporting the Arbor Day Foundation fits in very well with our green way of operating, and we’re happy to be of help.
3. We hired an Internet Marketing Specialist, which is not only beneficial for the company, but also for our customers who need extra support in that area. We can now field questions about SEO/SEM issues that we previously could not.
4. We launched the Dirxion Blog (which you’re probably looking at right now) in an effort to keep our customers and the general public informed about our product and various industry news/events. Although the blog started later in 2008, it’s already stuffed with all sorts of juicy content that ranges from marketing tips to customer spotlight articles.
5. Dirxion grew its customer base significantly (40% to be exact), which is beneficial for everyone because it allows us to grow in many new ways. We’re very thankful that we’re able to acquire new customers, especially in the current state of the economy. But if you think about it, one of the big ways for publishers to save money is to look at digital options for their publications, and of course, that’s what we specialize in. It’s a win-win!
6. Our marketing department is offering a total SEM (search engine marketing) solution to our customers in the coming year…more on that later, but we’re very excited about it! Look for more information in our next newsletter.
7. Dirxion had representatives in at least six trade shows this year. These shows ranged from the ACCM to the NCMA, and we had a blast at each one. It’s always good catching up with industry friends and making new connections. We have another full schedule of shows we’ll attend this year, so be sure to look for us!
8. Dirxion jumped on board a host of different social networking mega sites, including Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. We’re trying them all, and invite you to click on the links and join our communities! Social networking and social media in general is going to be a huge deal in 2009 and beyond, so getting familiar with them now is essential.
