There are two things Randy loves. First, his grandkids! Second? Developing and going into “code-mode” at Dirxion.
Tell me a little bit about yourself.
- Proud Texan!
- Four grandchildren (they call me Papa)
- Bilingual: English and Spanish.
How did you get started as an owner at Dirxion?
I was hired by Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages in Dallas straight out of college. Eventually, moved to St. Louis for another position within the company. The best thing that ever happened to me at Southwestern Bell was a downsize/reorganization that resulted in my joining Steve Mitchener’s OptiCad group working with Bruce Darrough and Jim Howard. The synergy was magic and the end result is Dirxion.
What do you love most about working at Dirxion?
If not for Dirxion, I would just be a tired, old, fat man. However, working at Dirxion provides me with a daily supply of exciting challenges that motivate and energize me. Unfortunately, I am still old and fat though.
What keeps you up at night?
I sleep quite fine, thank you.
We try to stay active and fit here at Dirxion, what is your favorite workout to relieve stress?
I am a regular participant in the Dirxion lunchtime volleyball and tennis activities for many years now. My new passion is Disc Golf.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Spend time with the grandkids…stealing kisses…playing in the park…giving horsie rides…working them into a frenzy and then sending them home. Love my kids, but being Dad doesn’t hold a candle to being Papa!
What are you looking forward to most this year?
This is a big year for new products and improvements at Dirxion. The Compass (Look and Feel) product at Dirxion will feature a new Tear Pages module and new Bookshelf with integrated library search. These are just about ready to roll out. In addition, we will be introducing a new product line using our new Composer engine. Soon we will be paginating brochures and catalogs from a direct data feed. Lots of work to do but exciting times ahead!
Anything else you’d like to add:
My secret shame is that I am a reality TV junkie. Go on, ask me about America’s Next Top Model or Survivor.
